ABOUT THE SKINCARE BUREAU

Making What’s Behind the Label Easier to See

The Skincare Bureau® was created around a simple idea: consumers should be able to better understand the claims they see on skincare products—and brands should have a clear way to show the work behind them.

That’s what TSB Verified™ is designed to do.

We independently review the documentation behind eligible ingredient and marketing claims and make verified claims visible to consumers.

WHY THE SKINCARE BUREAU EXISTS

A Few Words Can
Carry a Lot of Weight

  • “Cold-pressed.”
  • “Organic.”
  • “Farm-sourced.”
  • “Fragrance-free.”

A claim may take up only a few words on a label. But behind it can be sourcing records, supplier documentation, certifications, processing information, testing, and other supporting records.

Most of that isn’t visible when you pick up the product.

The Skincare Bureau® was created to bring more of that information forward.

TSB independently reviews the documentation supporting eligible claims so consumers can see what has been verified and brands can make the support behind their claims more visible.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Information Supports Better Decisions

TSB isn’t here to tell consumers what skincare products to buy. And we’re not here to tell brands what claims they should make.

Our role is more specific: independently review the support behind eligible claims and clearly communicate what has—and has not—been verified.

That means giving consumers another layer of information they can use however they choose. And giving brands that have invested in supporting their claims an independent way to make that work visible.

We do the reviewing. You decide what matters to you.

MEET THE FOUNDER

Why I Founded The Skincare Bureau

I’ve experienced skincare ingredients from several sides—as someone with a background in agriculture, a skincare maker, and a consumer who reads labels closely.

Those experiences gave me an appreciation for just how much can happen before a product ever reaches the shelf.

Ingredients are grown and sourced. Suppliers provide documentation. Products are formulated and produced. Certifications may be earned. Testing may be completed. And eventually, all of that work has to be communicated in just a few words on a package.

I kept wondering:

What actually supports the claims consumers see? And how can they know when that support is there?

Those questions became The Skincare Bureau®.

I wanted to create a system that could sit between the claim and the consumer—not to judge the product, but to independently review what supports the claim.

A way for brands to make their documentation visible.
A way for consumers to look beyond a few words on a label.
And a standard clear enough that everyone understands exactly what has been verified.

OUR APPROACH

Specific by Design

TSB Verified™ does not verify an entire skincare product.

It verifies specific eligible claims.

Each claim is reviewed against defined documentation requirements. When a claim completes the TSB review process, the public verification record identifies what was reviewed and the scope of that verification.

TSB Verified™ is not a product rating, safety seal, regulatory approval, or blanket endorsement.

That distinction matters.

Clear scope. Clear boundaries. Clearer information.

FOR BRANDS + CONSUMERS

Clarity to Both Sides of the Label

For consumers, TSB offers a clearer look at the claims they encounter and what stands behind them.

For skincare brands, it offers an independent way to make the work supporting eligible claims easier to see.

We believe there’s room for more transparency between the two.

That’s the space The Skincare Bureau® is being built to fill.

Ready to Verify Your Claims?
