No Sale of Personal Information
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Privacy & data practices
How The Skincare Bureau® (TSB) collects, uses, and discloses information through this website and TSB Verified™, and how to contact us about your privacy.
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Supporting documents and internal review notes are not published in the Verified Directory.
A Public Verification Record identifies the product, its verified claims, and the scope of each determination.
01 / SCOPE
This policy covers information TSB handles through its website, brand review submissions, claim review, licensing, Verified Directory, current website Claim Checker, and communications.
External websites and services, including payment, sign-in, email, and social platforms, also have their own privacy policies. This policy describes TSB’s handling of information, not those providers’ separate practices.
02 / INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We collect partner application details through our website, together with approval records, accepted referrals, and review-payment and payout references, to administer the Referral Partner Program. Approved partners use our FirstPromoter-hosted portal for account sign-in, referral links, and reward information. FirstPromoter processes the account details provided for that portal. Partners do not receive confidential review documents or internal claim determinations through referral tracking.
The free website Claim Checker is available to consumers and brands without an account or payment. When you select “Check Claims,” we receive the product-page URL or ingredient list (INCI) you submit, including any claim wording or ingredient footnotes.
The current website checker does not require camera access, barcode scanning, file uploads, or an external product-catalog search. It does not determine a product’s TSB verification status. You can separately visit the Verified Directory to look for a public record.
Use public product information. Do not paste confidential formulas, supplier records, personal information, or private links containing passwords or access tokens into the checker. Brands providing supporting records for a review should use the Brand Portal.
If you submit a brand recommendation or correction to TSB, we receive the details you provide, including optional contact information, for review and possible follow-up.
The personal invitation editor is different: the message you write stays in your browser until you copy it or pass it to your chosen email or sharing service. TSB does not receive that message or send it on your behalf.
TSB and its hosting and security providers may process IP addresses, browser and device details, referring pages, requested pages, timestamps, and error or security logs. Some forms use an IP-derived identifier to limit abuse. Email providers process delivery information and may process opens or clicks when those features are enabled.
Submit only what is needed. Do not include Social Security numbers, government IDs, health records, passwords, complete payment-card details, or unrelated personal information in application documents or messages.
03 / HOW WE USE INFORMATION
04 / AUTOMATED AND AI-ASSISTED PROCESSING
Website Claim Checker: the current URL and INCI checker uses automated text-matching rules. It does not send checker submissions to an external AI model for analysis. It returns potential claims and guidance about supporting records based on the information it can read.
Brand verification reviews: the separate, signed-in review workflow may send submitted ingredient-list text and selected claim names to OpenAI to identify potential claims and organize documentation requirements.
Product photographs, label images, and supporting documents uploaded through the review workflow are stored as review records. The current claim-identification feature does not send those files to the AI service.
Automated and AI-assisted results may miss or misidentify claims. They do not verify claims or assess product safety. Verification decisions require supporting documentation and independent human review.
05 / WHO RECEIVES INFORMATION
Information may be disclosed to:
Confidential application materials are subject to the confidentiality protections below.
We do not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or disclose it for another company’s own direct marketing.
06 / CONFIDENTIALITY AND PUBLIC RECORDS
Supporting documentation is confidential and is not published in Public Verification Records or the Verified Directory.
TSB treats nonpublic application materials, including supplier records, certificates, formulation details, sourcing and processing records, reviewer notes, and correspondence, as confidential.
Access is restricted to authorized personnel, reviewers, advisers, and service providers who need the information to review claims, administer the verification program, protect records, or meet legal obligations. Anyone given access must protect its confidentiality and use it only for those purposes.
If disclosure is required by law or valid legal process, TSB limits the disclosure to what is legally required.
Using the website Claim Checker does not submit a verification review or publish your inputs or results in the Verified Directory. Checker results are preliminary and do not create a Public Verification Record.
Once a product completes verification and licensing, its Public Verification Record may include the brand and product name, product image and link, record number, verified claims, scope of each determination, verification date, and license status.
The public record shows what was verified and its scope. It does not include the confidential documents used to support the review.
07 / RETENTION
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law. Retention depends on application and license status, the need to document a verification decision, legal and accounting requirements, disputes, and security needs.
Website Claim Checker: the current checker processes inputs to return results on the page. It does not save those inputs or results in TSB’s review database or create a saved checker history. Hosting and security providers may still retain technical request, error, and security logs for site operation, troubleshooting, and abuse prevention.
Records may need to remain after an application ends or a license expires. Deletion requests are subject to applicable legal exceptions; clearing browser data does not remove TSB’s or its providers’ records.
08 / SECURITY
We use safeguards designed to protect information, including encrypted website connections and access controls for nonpublic application records. No transmission or storage system is completely secure.
09 / YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information; restrict or object to processing; withdraw consent; opt out of certain uses; or appeal a denied request. You may also have the right to complain to a privacy regulator.
Send requests or appeals to info@theskincarebureau.com with the subject “Privacy Request.” We may verify your identity and, for an authorized agent, their authority. We respond as required by applicable law and do not unlawfully discriminate for exercising privacy rights. Any refusal or retention of requested information is subject to applicable legal exceptions.
Use the unsubscribe link in a marketing email or contact us to stop marketing messages. Necessary application, payment, licensing, security, and legal notices may continue.
Requesting a program overview does not by itself subscribe you to the newsletter. Newsletter enrollment requires a separate signup or opt-in.
10 / CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS
Where the California Consumer Privacy Act or another California privacy law applies, the information described above may fall into these categories: identifiers; commercial information; internet or electronic activity; professional or business information; photographs and other submitted content; and information derived from applications or reviews.
Sources include you, your representatives, submitted records, sign-in and payment providers, public product sources, and our review and technical operations. The sections above explain each type of information, its uses, recipients, and retention criteria.
Applicable rights may include knowing, accessing, correcting, or deleting personal information, limiting certain uses of sensitive personal information, and opting out of sale or sharing. You or an authorized agent can use the request method above.
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about individuals.
12 / CHILDREN
The site and verification services are intended for adults and businesses, not children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided it, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate steps to delete it.
13 / INTERNATIONAL USERS
TSB operates in the United States. Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. Privacy laws may differ from those in your country. Applicable legal requirements govern international transfers.
14 / POLICY UPDATES
We post updates here and change the “Last updated” date. For material changes to how previously collected information is used, we provide additional notice or obtain consent when required by law.
We will review and update the applicable privacy notice before launching a separate Claim Checker app or introducing features that change how we collect, use, or share information.
15 / CONTACT
Do not include sensitive documents in your initial email. We will let you know if additional information is needed to process your request.
